It's long been suggested that birds evolved from feathered dinosaurs, but no one is sure how they started flying. In this study, researchers in the UK created a model of microraptor, a five-winged, feathered dinosaur deemed to be a precursor of birds. From a height of about 30 metres, they discovered the model could glide between 70 and 100 metres.
