Researchers have coated spider silk fibres, which are 10 times stronger than Kevlar, with carbon nanotubes to create a supermaterial that is electrically conductive. The new material is three times tougher than regular spider silk fibres, and could be used to build artificial muscles for robots or prosthetic limbs.
